MS21 Non-linear effects impacting fluid flow and chemical transport in porous media play a key role for processes occurring in several disciplines and in a variety of applications. In this minisymposium we seek to address the way non-linear effects impact flow and transport patterns in porous media or fractured porous media, and the way current knowledge can be… read more

MS23 The session is in honor of Professor Signe Kjelstrup, the 2022 recipient of InterPore’s Honorary Membership Award. Signe is a renowned scientist in equilibrium and non-equilibrium thermodynamics and their applications to porous media and nanoscale systems. Her work is widely known, not only from her many scientific papers, but also from several books including specialized monographs, a best-selling book for engineering students, and a new book on nanoscale non-equilibrium thermodynamics. We welcome contributions that are closely linked to Signe’s research within thermodynamics and transport properties of fluids in porous media, including theory, simulations, and… read more

In-Person Poster Presentations at InterPore2023

Please note the guidelines below for In-Person Poster Presentations.

  • Each poster presenter will be assigned to one of the poster sessions during the conference.
  • Session assignments can be found by navigating to the “My Conference” section of this website and clicking on the abstract link.
  • Posters should be put up in the morning and will remain on display the entire day.
  • Presenters of posters should be at their posters during their scheduled poster presentation session. Those who have requested to be considered for the best poster award must be present at their poster during the scheduled poster presentation session and be available for the live Q&A.
  • All poster presenters will have the option to upload a digital poster and pre-recorded video for participants who are unable to attend the live presentation.
  • Attendees and presenters can also use the chat feature in the conference platform, Whova, to discuss presentations at any time.

Diversity, Equality and Inclusiveness Event Updates

We would like to inform you of a change of speaker for the lecture on Diversity, Equality & Inclusiveness. We are delighted to announce that Adriana Paluszny from Imperial College will deliver the plenary lecture on Monday morning. Adriana has created the Watson Forum, a series of (informal) interviews that seek to highlight contributions of women in the areas of numerical modelling, simulation, and programming in the context of STEM, in particular Maths, Physics, Earth Sciences and Engineering. The Watson Forum is aimed at motivating young ladies to embark in numerical and modelling topics, and to project STEM role models to the world! Many of the interviewees have hybrid careers that combine modelling with other activities, such as experimental and field work. The videos are collected, edited, and uploaded onto a YouTube channel. We also welcome Kamaljit Singh as a panelist to the lunchtime workshop on Monday afternoon. The DEI event is free and open to all participants of InterPore2023. We look forward to the exciting and informative conversations!

Did you know….Edinburgh?

InterPore2023 will be in Edinburgh, a city with a lot to offer with respect to science, science history and porous media. This week: Dynamic Earth

If you’re looking for touristic activities while you’re in Edinburgh, Dynamic Earth should be high on your list. Situated at the foot of Edinburgh’s spectacular Salisbury Crags, Dynamic Earth invites you to take a journey through time to witness the story of planet Earth. You’ll be embarking on the interactive adventure of a lifetime – the lifetime of our planet! It’s a chance to experience the primeval forces of nature as they shaped our planet and go on a 4D adventure around the world. Travel back to the beginning of time in the Deep Time Machine, plunge into the ocean depths in a yellow submarine, fly high above ice cold glaciers and marvel at their power as they carve out entire continents. Dynamic Earth is also home to one of Scotland’s only fully digital, state-of-the-art 360° Planetariums, with a wide variety of live presenter-led shows and films showing throughout the year. Whether you want to learn or play, Dynamic Earth will satisfy kids and scientists alike.
