PORE 1-3 Multiphase flow and transport in porous media
Summary of the Course:
This course will introduce students to basic principles in multiphase flow in porous media.
Course Topics:
- Fluid displacement in a capillary tube, the role of interfacial tensions and wetting, Navier-Stokes Equations
- Flow regimes and wetting, capillary number, and viscosity rations
- Drainage, Imbibition, and steady state flow
- Darcy’s law for multiphase flow, pending questions
- Special cases I:, gasses, three phase flow, emulsions
- Special cases II: species transport during multiphase flow, non-Newtonian
Duration: 12 hours total (3 hours per week)
Location: Online
