Sent on: 11-05-2026

Dear InterPore colleagues,

Our thriving InterPore community is growing with the launch of a new InterPore chapter in Canada and more chapters reporting on their activities. And I am sure many of you are looking forward to our vibrant InterPore Annual meeting. Don’t forget to check the courses scheduled for Monday!

An exciting trip to Nantes, France, but hopefully not as adventurous as that of one of Nantes' former residents, Jules Verne!

All the best,

Don't miss your chance to register for one of our 2026 Conference Courses, taking place in person on Monday, 18 May, ahead of the main conference.

The following half-day courses are available:

Nantes has a strong and proud connection to the famous novelist Jules Verne. He was born there in 1828, and the city celebrates him as one of its most famous figures. Nantes' maritime activity had a deep influence on his imagination, and many of his stories involve travel, exploration and adventure. The Musée Jules Verne is entirely dedicated to his life and work.

Kimberly-Clark is a 150-year-old company that has consistently brought technical innovations to market to meet essential consumer needs and deliver Better Care for a Better World. We invented fundamental product categories such as paper towels, toilet paper on a roll, facial tissue, feminine pads and toddler training pants. These are enabled by unique technical breakthroughs rooted in robust research programs around materials science, life sciences, high-speed manufacturing processes and product development.

Many of our products manage various liquids and interact with skin and surfaces. The core function of the products is enabled by highly engineered porous media, whether it is to pick up or dispense liquid, or sometimes even prevent liquid absorption. These porous media tend to be thin and change considerably during liquid absorption, and both of these elements pose significant challenges – and opportunities – to understand, design and build top-performing materials. Sustainability is at the heart of our research strategy, and we look for specific materials, compositions and manufacturing methods that minimize our environmental footprint.
