Dear InterPore,

It is a great honor for me to take over the chair of the German Chapter Steering Committee from Thomas Nagel.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Thomas, who has been involved with the German Chapter since its inception and has chaired it since 2019. He was instrumental in organizing the first chapter meeting in Leipzig and has provided advice and support ever since and has kept the contact to the international organization.

Throughout my scientific career, I have worked for over a decade on the modeling and simulation of porous media, primarily in the areas of electrochemical and thermal energy storage. Initially for my PhD at Saarland University and École des mines de Paris, then at Fraunhofer ITWM, and currently at DLR in Stuttgart. My interests range from image processing, pore-scale modeling and simulation to upscaling and continuum-scale modeling.

Since its foundation, I have been connected to the German Chapter of InterPore, when I became a member of the Steering Committee. Personally, I would love to see national chapter meetings again, maybe in combination with other national chapters. In any case, I am definitely looking forward to representing the German chapter in the international organization and seeing all of you at chapter and international meetings!
